BATTERY SUPPORT
For Gen5 and LIFTX batteries. Charging, storage, updates, and safety. Everything you need to know.
BUILT FOR PERFORMANCE. BACKED BY SMART DESIGN.
Every Lift battery is built for power, safety, and real session performance.
But like any high-performance system, it runs best when it’s cared for. This page gives you information you need to keep your battery, and your ride, running strong.
THE STRONGEST BATTERIES WE'VE EVER BUILT
Our Gen5 and LIFTX batteries are built with performance in mind. But we’ve also designed them with multiple layers of protection.
Double Walled IP68 Enclosure
Watertight and impact-tested. A sealed, dual-layer shell keeps critical components safe from water, vibration, and crushing impact. Rated IP68 and built for the real-world ride.
BUILT-IN THERMAL REGULATION
An internal heat plate, optimized airflow, and smart cell spacing dissipate heat before it builds.
Smart Battery Technology
Internal sensors track heat, shock, and voltage changes. If anything's off, power cuts and proactively documents events for streamlined customer support.
PRE-RIDE BATTERY CHECKLIST
Before every session, take 10 seconds to make sure you're ready.
EXTEND BATTERY LIFE BY AVOIDING THESE COMMON MISTAKES
🔋 STORING OR CHARGING IN HIGH HEAT
WHY IT MATTERS
Excess heat breaks down lithium-ion cells and damages internal structure.
AVOID
Storing or charging in direct sun, hot cars, or areas with big temp swings like uninsulated garages.
🔋 STORING WITH A LOW STATE OF CHARGE
WHY IT MATTERS
Sitting below 10% can lead to long-term cell degradation and battery failure.
AVOID
Letting your battery die fully. Always store it with 30-50% charge (2-3 Green LEDs).
🔋 CHARGING WHILE BATTERY IS HOT
WHY IT MATTERS
Heat + charging = chemical stress that shortens the battery life.
AVOID
Plugging in immediately after a session. Let it cool down before charging.
🔋 CHARGING IN OR NEAR WATER
WHY IT MATTERS
Charging near salt water or in wet garages causes corrosion, shorts, fire risk.
AVOID
Charging on docks, in wet garages, or near salt water.
🔋 CLEANING WITH HIGH-PRESSURE WATER OR AIR
WHY IT MATTERS
High pressure can force water past seals, damaging internal components.
AVOID
Spraying with high pressure hoses.
SMART CHARGING. EVERY TIME.
Charging is simple. Charging smart keeps your battery strong.
DO
- Charge indoors, away from water or flammables.
- Only use the Lift Quick Charger.
- Let your battery cool before plugging in.
- Charge in a well ventilated area.
- Use a designated outlet.
DON'T
- Charge in direct sun or temperature-swing garages.
- Leave the battery charging unattended.
IDEAL CONDITIONS
32-77°F (0-25°C), dry and ventilated.
-
STORAGE TIPS
Store at 30-50% state of charge (SOC). Check SOC every 90 days. Store cool and dry. Use a fireproof case for added safety.
-
SHIPPING GUIDANCE
Learn moreBatteries must go through certified hazmat shippers. Most airlines DO NOT allow them in carry-on or cargo.
STAY UPDATED. STAY CONFIDENT.
Firmware updates don't just improve performance, they keep your battery smart, safe, and in peak performance.
Here's how to stay dialed:
- Open the Lift Foils App
- Go to My Gear
- Select your battery (Gen5 or LIFTX)

ALWAYS CHECK FOR BATERY DAMAGE.
Our batteries are built with extreme care and safety but you should always check for use damage.
Warning signs you shouldn't ignore.
Your battery is built for performance—but it’s up to you to recognize when something’s off. These are the signs that matter.
-
Red or no LEDs
If your battery doesn't light up, or shows red indicators, something isn't right.
-
Cracks or Seal Damage
Visible cracks or case separation? Stop riding and contact Lift Customer Support.
-
Overheating
Warm after use is normal. If it's hot while idle or charging, that’s a warning.
-
Smoke or Vapor
If you see any smoke or vapor, power down and move the battery to a fire-safe space.
-
Clicking, Hissing, or Popping
Unusual battery sounds mean something’s wrong. Don’t ignore it.
-
Strange Smells
Burning or chemical smells point to cell damage. Take action and stop using.
PRO TIP
Always store and charge batteries away from flammables. Having a Class C extinguisher or sand bucket nearby is good practice—just like you'd keep near a grill or propane tank.
