SFT Munich: A Win, Two Podiums, and a Semifinal by Half a Meter

SFT Munich: A Win, Two Podiums, and a Semifinal by Half a Meter

The SFT E-Foil and Pump Foil World Cup ran June 12 to 14 at Munich's Olympic Rowing Centre, part of Munich Water Days. It was the first World Cup the series has held in Munich and the second SFT stop in Germany this year. More than 100 riders raced. Points counted toward the 2026 E-Foil and Pump Foil World Championships, with several riders still in title contention, so the weekend carried weight past the results sheet.

The conditions did not make it easy. Rain, strong wind, and cold closer to winter than June met the team on arrival, and boards needed work before the first heat ran. Axel handled repairs and technical support across the weekend. Alex Maes coordinated the team. When the weather forced changes, riders shared equipment and helped each other rig between heats. Albert, Jack, and Ruma ran media. The Lift lineup: Manel Arpa, Alex Tete, Edan Fiander, Carmine, Anti, Pete, Vlad, Bernd, and Lukas.

In the Pump Foil division, Edan Fiander won all three races across three course formats to take the division.

In the Challenger division, Lucas won on his first weekend with the team. Vlad finished 3rd, giving Lift two podiums in the division.

Manel Arpa posted some of the fastest laps of the event and went into the semifinal against Justin with a path to the Grand Final. A fall a few meters from the final gate ended it, by under half a meter. He moved to the Small Final, raced teammate Alex Tete, and finished 3rd overall.

China earlier this season went better. Munich brought mistakes and a few races that did not go the team's way. That is the part of a season that decides where a team stands a month from now.

The series moves to Lake Garda, Italy next. Manel sits in title contention, and the goal has not changed: hold position and race for the 2026 World Championship.

Lift will run a support area at Garda for any Lift rider competing. Technical help, setup advice, spares, and tuning will be on hand. If you are racing the event, come find the team.
