Lift Partner Interview: eFoils Scotland

Tell us a little bit about you and the team!

My name is Lloyd and I am the owner of eFoil Scotland. Our instructors are Ian, Mairi and Paula who all do the most amazing job and are perfect for teaching! We’re based in Burntisland, a small coastal town in Scotland only 30 minutes from Edinburgh. Life has always involved water sports from a very young age with my father running a Scuba Diving School. I currently work as a Saturation Diver in the North Sea so eFoil Scotland wouldn’t be here without the help of the instructors and my family.

How did you discover Lift Foils?

I think everyone seen the first video of Nick flying through the waters of Miami on a flying surf board….Right!!?? If you haven’t, you need to check that out!

What’s your favourite eFoil size or wing configuration and why?

I’ve tried a lot of wings but find myself going back to my initial setup on a 200 Surf V2 front wing with a 38 Back wing. It’s just an amazing setup on waves and flat water, you can really carve hard and it’s super stable.

What excites you about eFoiling?

eFoiling is simply amazing. Every time you go out on the water, you don’t know what you’ll experience or see. I love people’s reactions to eFoiling… It literally makes them think, for a second or two, that magic is possible after all!

What regions do you work out of, and what does your company offer demos, lessons, etc?

We are based in Fife, Scotland but travel all over the country promoting our company and Lift Foils. Currently, we offer demo’s, lessons and sales with a store setup this year.

Tell us about one of your most interesting water or adventure experiences, whether foil related or not!

It’s got to be flying under the Forth Bridge (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It gives me goosebumps every time! I’ve also had the pleasure of dolphins swimming alongside us.
